Global Warming

Dangerous Human-Made Interference with Climate
Dr. James Hansen, climate specialist from NASA urges the US Congress to expedite action on global warming because failure to level off emissions of greenhouse gas within ten years will guarantee an eventual 25 meters (82 feet) of ocean rise from melting polar ice. The White House is at 17 meters and will be flooded. He projects16 feet rise in water levels as early as the end of this century.

The Department of the Planet Earth (DPE)currently has two programs for addressing global warming. The first is to encourage schools and businesses to utilize more daylighting in their interior environments. This leads to energy savings which directly correlates to global warming. To learn more, click here: DAYLIGHTING

DPE's second program is to encourage states and Governors to sign on to a climate pledge. More on this program below.

Ask Your Governor to Sign A Climate Pledge

Cities for Climate Protection of Berkeley, California and Toronto, Ontario have shown the way, receiving climate pledges from other cities and local governments around the world that approximate 5 percent of global carbon dioxide output.

More on the Cities for Climate Protection can be found at http://www.iclei.org/co2

If you would like to contact your Governor, one of the first questions they will ask is whether saving energy is bad for State economies. We have put together a chart book of some of the best studies on this issue - all showing employment increases with energy conservation. Contact us if you want a copy:
