About Adobe PDF format

All documents on the Department of the Planet Earth (DPE) web site are readable using Adobe Reader 5.0 or later but are best viewed with Adobe Reader 7.0 or a later version. Adobe Reader is a free software that you can download from Adobe's web site by clicking on the icon to the right. We suggest that you bookmark the Department of the Planet Earth web site first and then install or update Adobe Reader.

To determine which version you have already installed on your computer - launch Adobe Reader from your Start button and Programs menu. When Reader opens, select the Help menu and then choose About Reader.

More on Adobe Reader versions: Many users have had problems with Reader 6.0 - where the Reader does not open or the computer "freezes" on a blank web page. We suggest you upgrade to Reader 7.0 in order to solve this bug. Reader versions earlier than 5.0 do not have the capacity to open and properly display the newer documents found on DPE's web site.
